It is no real secret about Marvel Heroes being made, although no one has really said much about it and I have only heard about it once before today, but we got some solid details today about the game. Marvel Heroes will be a free-2-play MMO from Gazillion Entertainment that takes notes from dungeon-crawlers and makes you modify your own versions of the actual characters from the Marvel the universe.
The game will allow you to pick from a huge variety of heroes such as Iron Man and Spider-Man to maybe less known ones like… Squirrel Girl? Yeah, her. Players can construct costumes that pay homage to character histories, choose from superpowers and find items to take making your character more unique. Basically everyone can play as the same character it seems, but with different touches. I guess you can always call multi-verse on this whole setup.
The game will have social areas such as Midtown Manhattan and the Xavier Institute for players to come together to purchase items and head out to fight crime and do missions together in locales like Hell’s Kitchen and Mutant Town. It does have a look of a dungeon crawler, or maybe like the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games kind of. Either way the game looks very limited in everything and seems to lack freedom that one would expect from a superhero game. The script is being written by Brian Michael Bendis, who has written some of the latter comics of such series as Ultimate Spider-Man.
“I’ve been a big Marvel fan for all of my life,” said Gazillion president David Brevik. “Marvel Heroes represents the combination of Marvel IP with all of the knowledge and experience I gained creating Diablo. It is a dream come true. I’m excited to unveil Marvel Heroes and share this revolutionary MMO with both gamers and Marvel fans.”
