Yes, Minecraft is a very popular game and it is no big surprise that it sold well with the Xbox 360 edition. However it has already sold over 1 million copies on Xbox Live Arcade. Just last week Microsoft revealed that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (that name is way too long) is the fastest selling game on XBLA, with 400,000 plus players in the first 24 hours.
Today Microsoft was boasting that players of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition have spent more than 5.2 million hours mining since launch, with 4 million multiplayer sessions played and more than 2.4 million hours spent playing multiplayer.
The game’s original creator, Marcus “Notch” Persson tweeted “Uhhhh, Microsoft just sent out a press release saying Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold a million copies in five days. Wow.”
“I feel stunned,” Notch added, although selling millions of copies of the PC version of Minecraft.
