Sony has revealed during an earnings call that the PS Vita has sold 1.8 million units worldwide to date. Kaz Hirai has made claims that the handheld has been enjoying a promising launch, which is some positive news with the slow sales in Japan.
“About Vita,” said Hirai, “the last year, [we sold] 1.8 million units for US, Japan, Asia and Europe. And as a starting phase, I think it was a good start.”
Sony is predicting to sell 16 million Vita’s by the end of March 2013. Kaz Hirai believes the game library for the system is the key to success. Hirai claims that Sony will, “reinforce the software area in order to improve the business, that is the basic line.”
