There were rumors of it, now it has been confirmed by Microsoft there will be a $99 subscription-based console available in U.S. Microsoft stores.
When customers buy their new Xbox 360 they must sign up for a 2-year subscription to Xbox Live Gold at $14.99 per month. The console comes with a petty 4GB HDD, but does come with the Kinect also.
It sounds like a good deal, however with it being $14.99 a month that is roughly $360 plus the price of the system making a grand total of about $460. Not at all as cheap as it might sound, but maybe cheap in the right spots for those that want to spread out the cost of XBL Gold.
