If the title makes me seem excited, it’s because I am. Since its original release in 1998, the Baldur’s Gate franchise has had a prominent position in my mind as the greatest game, RPG or otherwise, ever created, and that still holds to this day, so when Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition were announced at baldursgate.com after a lengthy countdown, I nearly shit myself with joy.
The game is being refurbished by the minds at Atari, Overhaul Games, Beamdog and Wizards of the Coast, the last of which had no small hand in creating the original games. Trying to stay true to the feel of the original games, Overhaul Games has recruited a team of artists, designers and programmers, including developers from the original Baldur’s Gate. Not much else is known other than there will be some new features implemented along with the graphical upgrade and that it is due out this summer.
I, for one, will be watching like a hawk for the next piece of info on this particular project, and hopefully, some of you are just as excited as I am.
