Since dipping my toe into the half pristine lake and half acid pit that is PC gaming I have come to like Team Fortress 2. When the planets align just right and douse my home with cosmic radiation so that my kinda shitty laptop and really shitty internet can run it I have enjoyed many a night shooting dudes with a rocket launcher and shotgun. And with 2012 just getting started, the TF2 writers over at Valve have announced some stuff for the coming months, including:
A New TF2 Thing:
The TF2 team have been pumping out a lot of shit for the game. At least, a lot of shit that I have seen. You got new maps, the introduction of the hats, the change to the Free to Play model, the in-game shop for weapons and whathaveyou. But, according to the TF2 blog, this new thing they are working on isn’t any of those things. It is something new and probably something awesome.
Steam Workshop Blog:
From what I can gather, this is where people submit their own hat designs and such to get voted on by the community to see what the players want in the actual game. The blog is currently live and since going live however long ago about 4000 items have already been submitted by users. You can check out the blog, vote for stuff or submit your own stuff here.
Meet the Pyro:
Oh, how we’ve been waiting for this one. Before I had a PC that could even kinda run the game the “Meet the Team” shorts were all I really had to connect with this game. They are hilarious and awesome and for the longest time fans have been clamoring for a short on the Pyro. Our prayers have been answered and we will be seeing that final short this year.
The Second Annual Saxxy Awards:
For those of you who don’t know the Saxxy Awards is an awards show that honors members of the TF2 community with a foot tall statue of an Australian man in his skivvies. Fans submit videos they have captured from their own TF2 games for one of the 20 viable categories and the winners are chosen from there. No date has been set but soon 20 lucky people will be getting an almost naked Australian man in the mail.
So, are you guys excited about anything I mentioned up there? Let us know in the comments or in the forums. I will be keeping an eye out for anymore news about this stuff, so be sure to come back and see what we got.
