As I woke up this morning, I certainly wasn’t expecting to come across the most exciting piece of anime news since the announcement of the Persona 4 anime. It has recently been confirmed that Cowboy Bebop‘s director Shinichiro Watanabe (Macross Plus, Samurai Champloo) and composer Yoko Kanno (Macross Plus/Frontier, Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) have teamed up once again to release an anime based on the manga Sakamichi no Apollon, which follows Kaoru Nishimi as he transfers to a new school and finds new friends with mutual interest in jazz.
Personally, I would watch anything with this kind of talent behind the scenes, but the fact that this is a plot driven by music makes it all the better. The anime is set to release in April of this year, and it makes me look forward to the 2012 Spring Season of anime even more.
