The Grand Theft Auto series and I have had a complicated relationship over the years. Starting with GTA III, every once in a while I would pick up a GTA game and mess around with it for a while before putting it away and never looking at it again. What would always happen was I would start out just fucking around, driving over old woman and beating prostitutes to death with a baseball bat before having a shootout with the cops and dying, but then I would get bored and move on to the actual story stuff… and that is where the games lose me. After a couple of years I would try the new GTA and it would be the same. It’s a similar relationship between me and the Pokemon games. Start out thinking “Oh shit, this is awesome. Why did I ever stop playing this?” and then realizing, “Oh yeah, that’s why.” This little story is just to give some context as to why I am not exactly jumping out of my pants with joy over Rockstar’s latest announcement.
On their website, you will see a logo (see above) and timer counting down to a week from now, November 2. On that day we will be treated to the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, the 13th game in the series and the follow-up to the 2008 smash hit GTA IV. There was no other news on the post. Just the logo and the timer.
Let me guess what will be in this trailer: A man comes to a city that is similar to New York City to commit crimes. There will be shooting, driving and explosions. It will also be very bland in terms of variety.
I only liked Vice City.
I find it hilarious that Grand Theft Auto 5 is the 13th game. To be honest, I agree. I haven’t really loved any of the games since GTA2.
