Back in high school, we had comics in the library. All kinds of trades and whatnot. And among those books was something that didn’t even look like a comic at first glance, mostly because it was the size of an encyclopedia. That was the complete collection of Bone by Jeff Smith, a great book about some weird little guys called Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone, and their adventures in the Valley. It was an epic story that concluded over 10 years ago, but it seems Jeff Smith isn’t done with it yet.
A brand new Bone story has been announced. Written by Jeff Smith, Bone: Coda will be a 128 page graphic novel and will include the entirety of The Bone Companion, a book about Bone written by Stephen Weiner, a comic historian who’s written similar books for Hellboy and Will Eisner. The book will also have some behind the scenes stuff, and a thankful afterword from Jeff Smith.
Bone: Coda goes on sale this July.
