Since the beginning of Marvel’s All-New All-Different relaunch thing late last year, things in the Marvel universe have been feeling kind of the same. Since most of the actual big changes came from before all this Secret Wars whatsits, we’ve already gotten used to them, so seeing Lady Thor and black Captain America leading a team of Avengers made up of them, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, The Vision, and Nova, it doesn’t feel new or different. Just more of the same. Well, Marvel apparently doesn’t see it that way, and, in a feat of immense irony, Marvel has announced something.
Starting this June, Marvel will be releasing collected editions of some of their All-New All-Different launch titles under the banner of Timely Comics. For those who don’t know, back in the 1930s and 40s, Marvel was called Timely Comics. They kept this name for over a decade, before becoming Atlas Comics and, eventually, Marvel Comics.
The books released under the Timely Comics brand will contain the first three issues of an ANAD series and will run you $3.00. The initial run of Timely titles coming this summer are…
- All-New All-Different Avengers
- All-New Inhumans
- Carnage
- Daredevil
- Doctor Strange
- Drax
- Invincible Iron Man
- Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
- New Avengers
- Scarlet Witch
- Squadron Supreme
- Totally Awesome Hulk
- Ultimates
- Uncanny Inhumans
- Venom: Space Knight
- Web Warriors
Oddly enough, the Timely Comics banner, which you can see above, has Steve Rogers’ new shield that he’ll be using when he becomes Captain America again because of course he fucking is. So the banner for their collection series celebrating their new takes on these classic characters and ideas, which is named after the company’s original name, features the new shield of one of those classic characters who’s coming back to reclaim his title that he passed on to his all new and all different version. Do you think Marvel knows and are just fucking with us?
Timely Comics begin launching this June.
