Marvel Announces Mockingbird Ongoing Series

With the character being a mainstay on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel moving the comics more inline with the Cinematic Universe, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Mockingbird is going to be getting her own solo series.

At the Diamond Retailer Summit, Marvel announced that Chelsea Cain, writer of the recent Mockingbird: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary one-shot, will be returning to the character for a brand new ongoing series set to launch next year. No artist has been announced for the book yet.

Marvel said that motivation for the new book came from the “overwhelming response” to the one-shot issue, which was pretty good. This brings Marvel’s total for female-led books even higher (don’t have an exact number on that right now), a fact they are never shy to point out.
