A couple of weeks back (yes, I know, I’m bad at my job) Marvel made that announcement that Secret Wars, their universe spanning event which was originally planned to have eight issues, will be getting another one this December. Apparently, eight issues just isn’t enough contain what Jonathan Hickman has in store for us.

Apparently, Secret Wars is even bigger than we thought it was. To help Jonathan and Esad conclude this epic event as big and bombastically as it started, we are adding an extra issue. That means one more month of the suspense, action and game-changing storytelling that fans and retailers have been clamoring for since the final incursion started.
The Secret Wars series has had some problems of late in regards to release schedules, with the 4th, 5th, and 6th issues all being delayed by a number of weeks, and even some of the tie-in issues missing solicited release dates. Not sure if adding another issue on top of what they already have to do is the best idea, but I guess we’ll see.
Secret Wars #9 is set for release this December.
