Trick ‘r Treat is a fucking great horror anthology movie that I haven’t watched enough times. Since its release in 2007, pretty much everyone who’s seen it has said basically the same thing and the movie has gained a cult following. Then two years back we got word a sequel was coming and everybody squeed in delight, then wondered where the hell it was ’cause we haven’t really heard anything in the past two years. But it is still happening, and we’re getting something else to tide us over.
Legendary Pictures has announced that this October they will be releasing a Trick ‘r Treat graphic novel with four original stories. The stories will be written by Michael Dougherty, writer and director of Trick ‘r Treat, with help from Zach Shields and Todd Casey, who co-wrote the upcoming Krampus with Dougherty. Then the stories will be passed off to Marc Andreyko (Manhunter, Torso) to turn them into actual comic stories drawn by Fiona Staples (Saga), Stuart Sayger (he did things), Stephen Byrne (Steve Loves Internet), and Zid (Son of Merlin).
Speaking of Krampus, that’s also getting a graphic novel in November to give us more detail on the creature that steals children and beats them with sticks. Dougherty, Shields, and Casey are still on story, with the writing being done by Brandon Seifert (Witch Doctor). The art will handled by Michael Montenat (Dead Squad), Stuart Sayger again, Maan House (Cutter), and Christian DiBari (Hoax Hunters).
