DC Announces New Series And New Creators Coming This June

DC has recently announced a bunch of new titles, and some new creative faces to the company, to take place this June following the conclusion of their Convergence event. 24 brand new titles have been announced so far, along with 25 titles that were previously being published that will continue, some which will be getting new creative teams attached to them. This of course will then make the total number of books being published by DC currently 49, with more books to be announced throughout the year according to the publisher. On DC’s blog Dan DiDio, co-publisher of DC Comics, had this to say of the news…

This heralds in a new era for the DC Universe which will allow us to publish something for everyone, be more expansive and modern in our approach and tell stories that better reflect the society around us. Whether you’ve been a DC fan your whole life, or whether you are new to comics – there will be a book for you beginning in June.

Personally I feel this is a great move on DC’s part. A lot of these creative teams and new books being announced sound great at least on paper. I just hope the execution works out better for them than the fallout of the New 52, and how a lot of those books had editorial issues which effected the overall quality of the books, and as a result some great titles fell by the wayside in my opinion. Me personally, I’m excited for a number of these books including the great artist Riley Rossmo drawing Constantine: The Hellblazer, James Tynion IV who will be writing Dark Universe, and the Garth Ennis mini series Section Eight, featuring characters from his Hitman series from the 90s which was a super fun book you should check out if you never have.
