Marvel has announced that this April in issue #2 of the new Howard The Duck series, that readers will find out how Howard ended up within the grasp of the Collector, as seen in the post credit sequence at the end of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. The solicitation for the issue is featured below..
Howard’s first big case has taken him across the universe and landed him in the clutches of The Collector! But he’s not alone as the very popular Rocket Raccoon is a prisoner as well! Have you ever seen a comic book sequel to a post-credits scene in a movie? Well, you will now!
The series written by Chip Zdarsky of Sex Criminals fame, and drawn by Joe Quinones, will continue the ongoing trend of Marvel slowly trying to tie in their cinematic universe, with their comic properties, by bringing in characters and storylines directly out of their popular movies, despite Marvel making the claim publicly in the past that this is not part of their overall plan as a company. It makes sense as a business decision in order to possibly bridge the gap between two different forms of media, yet I feel that it doesn’t always translate into bringing new fans to the hobby. Just because your a fan of the movie doesn’t always mean that you would like to continue reading the adventures of the characters in comic form. At the end of the day, whether they are found in the movies or the comic, I just want great stories to be told, and I think as fans of these characters that’s all we can hope for.
