Benedict Cumberbatch to Play Doctor Strange

There have been rumors about who will be playing Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme for a while now. First it was Johnny Depp, then it was Joaquin Phoenix, but now we know who it will be. It is the man with the Britishest name out there right now.

Marvel has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel Phase Three movie from Scott Derrickson. The movie will follow neurosurgeon Stephen Strange getting into the world of mysticism and magic and whatnot after a car accident. Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.

Doctor Strange is set for release on November 4th, 2016.
