Squirrel Girl is a character I don’t know anything about, mainly because I haven’t read anything she’s been in. At least as far as I know I haven’t, anyway. But apparently she’s pretty awesome, having gone toe-to-toe with Doctor Doom, Wolverine, Deadpool, and Thanos and beaten all of them. I don’t know the context for these fights, but with that kind of track record it makes why the Marvel adjective of her upcoming solo series is “unbeatable.”
Marvel has announced that Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will be launching this coming January. Written by Ryan North (Adventure Time comics) and drawn by Erica Henderson (Atomic Robo: Real Science Adventures), the book is another one of Marvel’s female-led books which is “intended to appeal equally to canon-heads and newcomers.” Aside from that we don’t know much about the plot or anything, but judging by the writer’s previous work and the art style it’s going to be one of Marvel’s more comedy focused and lighthearted series.
Above you can see the cover for the first issue, drawn by Henderson, and below you can see a variant cover drawn by Art Adams. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl launches in January, 2015.
