With the success of Pacific Rim and this summer’s Godzilla, Legendary is going back into their giant monster folder and making a new King Kong movie.
The movie, which will be set on Kong’s home of Skull Island, was announced this past week at Comic-Con in San Diego during Legendary’s panel. The movie isn’t expected to be a sequel or a reboot of Peter Jackson’s King Kong from 2005, and I have no idea how that works.
Max Borenstein, who wrote Godzilla for Legendary, is attached to write the movie and the studio has approached Joe Cornish, director of Attack the Block, to helm.
Skull Island is scheduled for release on November 6th, 2016.
