After the show’s cancellation back in May, Community has been looking for a new home. Netflix said they weren’t picking it up right after the cancellation and things with fell through with Hulu not too long ago. Things were looking pretty grim of the Human Beings, but then a new savior swooped in to give the show its sixth season. No word on a movie, though.
Yahoo (yes, that Yahoo) has announced that they’ve picked up the series for a sixth season that will be premiering this fall on Yahoo Screen, the company’s on-demand streaming service. Series creator Dan Harmon, Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash have all signed on for the new season. With the announcement, Harmon said…
I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!
McHale also had a bit of a statement with the announcement, thanking Harmon, Sony, Yahoo, and “the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race,” saying it’s cool to swear now that they’re on the internet.
The sixth season of Community will be 13 episodes long, starting this fall on Yahoo Screen.
