Earlier this year, developer Interceptor Entertainment and publisher 3D Realms announced Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, a new game in the Duke Nukem franchise. Unfortunately, 3D Realms had sold the IP to Gearbox Software, so Gearbox sued. A countdown website that was launched to tease the game, AllOutofGum.com, was changed to NoGumNeeded.com. The timer ran out last week, and revealed the company’s next game, which is a Duke Nukem game without Duke Nukem.
Interceptor and 3D Realms have announced Bombshell, an isometric action-role playing game coming to the PC and PS4. The game stars Shelly Harrison, also known as Bombshell, a former Bomb Disposal Specialist turned gun for hire who has to jump across four planets to rescue the President of the United States who was kidnapped by aliens. She also has a robotic arm because fuck you, of course she has a robotic arm.
The countdown site has been switched out for the game’s site, bombshellgame.com, which has some in-game screenshots, a wallpaper of the main character, behind the scenes videos, a character profile for Bombshell, and the reveal trailer which is posted above.
This game is so far in the 90s it’s goddamn ridiculous. Interceptor and 3D Realms have a bit of a spotty track record for me, so we’ll see what else the developer shows us in the coming weeks.
No word on a release date yet.
