This past week, a brand new game in the Ace Attorney franchise was announced through some leaked pages of Famitsu. And this time around, the turnabouts are happening with swords and shit (probably).
The new game, called Dai Gyakuten Saiban – Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken, which I’ve seen translated as Grand Turnabout Trial – The Adventures of Naruhodou Ryuunosuke or The Great Ace Attorney, is set in Japan’s Meiji Period (1868-1912) and follows Ryuunosuke Naruhodou, a lawyer and ancestor of Phoenix Wright. Like his descendant, Ryuunosuke will have a female assistant named Susato Mikotoba.
In this week’s of Famitsu, series creator and director Shu Takumi and producer Shintaro Kojima talked about the game. They didn’t say much, but when asked if they had a message for the fans, Kojima said…
While it’s not a main-numbered Ace Attorney title, it’s the start of a new series called The Great Ace Attorney.
If the main Ace Attorney series is any indication, we could see at least seven games in The Great Ace Attorney franchise and crossovers with Professor Layton! Exciting.
The Great Ace Attorney is currently in development for the 3DS. No word on if the game will be localized.
