This month, DC launched the year-long weekly series Batman: Eternal. Now after only two weeks of the series being out, DC has decided to announce yet another weekly series. But this time, it’s on another world.
DC has announced Earth 2: World’s End, a new weekly series that will be launching this fall. Much like Batman: Eternal, DC has assembled a huge team for this series. They have Daniel H. Wilson, Tom Taylor, Paul Levitz, Marguerite Bennet, and Mike Johnson on writing duties, and Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Stephen Segovia, Paulo Siqeira, and Tyler Kirkham drawing the series. Wilson, who is leading this motley crew, said about the series…
This has been a charmed opportunity to jump straight into the deep end of a gritty, complex DC Comics series. I feel incredibly lucky to work with Mike Cotton and the rest of the legendary DC team, figuring out the ultimate fates (and sometimes origins) of so many compelling Earth 2 characters in crisis. I’m having the time of my life.
The image above, drawn by Ben Oliver, gives us an idea of what the series will be about. I’m pretty sure that’s Apokolips in the background, Doctor Fate’s helmet and a Yellow Lantern ring dropping in the foreground, and Calvin Ellis, Superman and the President of the United States from Earth 23, comforting Power Girl.
Earth 2: World’s End launches in October 2014.
