Eight years ago, Grant Morrison announced plans for The Multiversity, a limited run series focusing on various worlds throughout the DC Multiverse. Since its announcement, though, the series has been delayed again and again, to the point where many comic fans believed the series would never actually come out. But we have a new release date, now, so maybe the series will finally see the light of day.
CBR is reporting that The Multiversity will be debuting this August. Each issue (of the eight or nine issue run, I’ve seen both numbers reported) will be 40 pages long, covering seven complete adventures. Each adventure will be set in a different universe, with a two part framing story bringing the whole thing together. There will also be a bunch of different artists working on the stories, including Ivan Reis, Chris Sprouse, Ben Oliver, Frank Quietly, Cameron Stewart, Karl Story, Joe Prado, and more.
Morrison told CBR a bit of what we readers can expect…
Prepare to meet the Vampire Justice League of Earth-43, the Justice Riders of Earth-18, Superdemon, Doc Fate, the super-sons of Superman and Batman, the rampaging Retaliators of Earth-8, the Atomic Knights of Justice, Dino-Cop, Sister Miracle, Lady Quark, the legion of Sivanas, the Nazi New Reichsmen of Earth-10 and the LATEST, greatest superhero of Earth-Prime — YOU!
I don’t know much about the history of this book but I am super looking forward to it when it comes out this summer. Assuming it actually does come out this summer.
The Multiversity issue 1 is set for release in August, 2014.
