When Uncharted was first announced that it was going to be made into a full length movie, the internet erupted wanting Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) to take on the role of witty and wise cracking Nathan Drake.
That chance went away at first when Academy Award-nominated director David O. Russell was signed on to direct and made it clear that Mark Wahlberg was going to be the star. However, fans saw the chance re-emerge once again when Russell dropped out (and subsequently Wahlberg as well).
Now with Neil Burger (Limitless) on board to write and direct the film, fans are back to clamoring for Fillion to take on the role as Nathan Drake. So much so that Fillion is asking for everyone to pull back some and give Berger some room to work.
“I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake. I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think. What I don’t want is people pressuring that poor man and souring him on the actual idea. If we could somehow just… do you remember the movie Inception? I think that’s what we need to do. We need to let him land on the idea on his own.”
I say we get Christopher Nolan on the phone and see how this Inception thing really works. I too want to see Nathan Fillion playing as one of my favorite video game characters of all time.
