As some of you may have already heard, Toonami, the anime segment of Adult Swim, announced that they would stop airing Naruto episodes at the end of the month (Novemeber). Luckily for all, they’re moving on fairly quickly and beginning the second “half” of the anime, Naruto Shippuden, in January. So at least the mourning period is short.
I actually quite enjoyed the first few arcs of Shippuden, which takes place two and a half years after the end of Masashi Kishimoto’s original series. It provided some good insight into how the members of Naruto’s class had grown and become the next generation of the village’s protectors. Unfortunately, I was reading the manga simultaneously and it was farther ahead in the story, so the anime was dropped. But for those who haven’t seen it yet, and can manage to avoid spoilers until January, I can certainly recommend checking it out. If you weren’t a fan of the original Naruto, it might not be for you, although Shippuden gets much darker as the story goes on.
