When we last heard from the production of the World of Warcraft movie, Duncan Jones had signed on to direct after Sam Raimi bailed on the project. Now we’ve got another update, this time about the casting.
According to sources at Deadline, Colin Farrell has been offered a lead role in the MMO adaptation and Paula Patton (who was in 2 Guns and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) is currently in negotiations for another lead role. We don’t know what Farrell’s response to the offer is, but the sources are saying that he could go either way on it.
Jones is also testing other actors for other major roles, and Deadline got their hands on the shortlist. The four actors going up for the other roles are Paul Dano (Prisoners), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek).
Personally, I’m hoping that Farrell takes the part and Yelchin gets cast. The two of them worked really well together in Fright Night and it would be interesting seeing if they can still work like that in other types of films.
