When Disney acquired Marvel and LucasArts, people started wondering about the possibility of Star Wars and Marvel characters appearing in Disney and Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series, one of my favorite JRPG series of all time. As it turns out, we aren’t the only ones who want to see Han Solo and Deadpool kicking Heartless as with Sora and Goofy (because fuck Donald).
In a recent interview with Finaland, Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura was asked about Star Wars and Marvel characters showing up in KH. Nomura said on the subject…
Of course it would be great if we could add those licenses as well. But there are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so we can’t actually put everything people want, so it’s a quite difficult decision but we’re gonna prepare some surprises for you so, just wait for the informations.
While it is a bit unfortunate to hear about restrictions with these characters, it does make some sense. But the possibility is still there, and the director of the series is totally down for this to happen, so maybe by the time KH4 rolls out we’ll be seeing the Avengers and the Empire in a travels across dimensions.
