Ask fans of BioShock what one of the strongest aspects of that game was and a good chunk of them will say Rapture. The way Irrational Games fleshed out the society in the underwater city was amazingly thorough and really painted a picture of what Rapture was like before shit hit the fan. So who better to write a movie about a dystopian society than the guy who headed that dystopian society.
Ken Levine, co-founder of Irrational Games and creative director of BioShock, has been tapped by Warner Bros. to pen a screenplay for the remake of the 1976 film. Jon Berg will be overseeing the screenplay for the studio.
This remake has been in the works for a long damn time. Warner Bros. has been trying to get a remake of this movie off the ground since the mid-90’s, but every time they start building up some steam, either the director or the star or the writer or all three jump ship and they have to go back square one. Could Levine be the breath of fresh air the remake needs, or will it sink once again (get it?). Let us know what you guys think in the forums and in the comments below.
