If you watched the Xbox One reveal, then you got the idea that Microsoft was more interested in turning their new console into a home entertainment box thing that also has video games. I can’t say that I’m too fond of that idea, but some things they talked about did sound pretty cool, like this one.
Microsoft’s Nancy Tellem and 343’s Bonnie Ross were both on stage for the announcement that Xbox Entertainment Studio was developing a live action Halo TV series for Xbox Live and possibly other places. With the recent success of Forward Unto Dawn, this really isn’t that much of a surprise. What is a surprise is that Academy Award winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg has signed on to be executive producer for the entire series.
Spielberg didn’t actually appear at the event, but he did send a pre-recorded message saying, “Hey guys, video games are cool, right?” I’m not too sure how to feel about this. I mean, Forward Unto Dawn wasn’t bad, but I don’t know how it will translate to a TV series. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
No word on a release date or where people can watch it other than Xbox Live.
