While I haven’t actually finished the series, Gurren Lagann is fantastic. And two of the people behind that fantastic-ness are joining forces once again.
The June issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Newtype magazine announced that Hiroyuki Imaishi, the director of Gurren Lagann, and Kazuki Nakashima, the writer of Gurren Lagann, are teaming up again for a new anime, Kill La Kill, in the same positions. Sushio, the key animator for Gurren Lagann, is also working on the new series designing the characters.
The story focuses on two schoolgirls, Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin. Satsuki goes to a school where a campus is ruled by force. One day, Ryuko shows up with a bigass Basami sword and turns shit on its head. At least I think those are the right positions for the characters.
No word on when the series will be launching.
