EA Gets Exclusive Rights To Star Wars

To any fans of Star Wars games who are not fans of EA games bad news incoming. EA has made a deal with Disney to obtain exclusive licensing to Star Wars. This means that for several years EA will make any and all Star Wars games.

This could mean some good and bad developments on the horizon. The upside is that EA’s “All Action Games” policy may mean a revival for some of the franchise’s better games. Anyone craving Star Wars: Battlefront 3 may get their wish in the near future.

However, EA has had some very unpopular business practices in the past few years that are at risk of transferring into the star wars games. Games with tons of DLC that should be included in the initial game, or terrible anti-piracy mechanisms are a couple of examples. Anyone hoping for Star Wars games NOT in the action/shooter genre, are probably out of luck.
