In the combined 22nd/23rd issue of Shuesisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, the scheduled “grand finale” of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki’s manga, Medaka Box, will be running. The last issue had hinted that the manga would be reaching its climax in this issue with both NisiOisin and Akatsuki wishing to thank the fans for seeing the manga through to its end. The manga launched in 2009 and Shueisha will be publishing its 21st volume in June.
A spinoff manga, Good Loser Kumagawa, will also be coming to an end in the summer issue of Shueisha’s Jump Next! magazine. NisiOisin and Akatsuki started the spinoff in 2011, and packaged it with the 15th issue of Medaka Box. The manga focuses on the character Misogi Kumagawa from the original series.
Medaka Box tells the story of Kurokami Medaka, the recently elected student council president(with 98% of the vote no less) and her snarky-but-loyal childhood friend of 13 years, Zenkichi Hitoyoshi. Medaka, as her first act as president, institutes a suggestion box where students can ask for help with anything at all, which soon becomes known as the titular Medaka Box. She receives a request, sets off, and drags Zenkichi into what, more often than not, turns into a fight. She’s also on a quest to appoint the remainder of her student council, and as of the beginning of the manga, holds all of the positions. Did I mention that Medaka is practically superhuman in almost every aspect of her being? No? Well now you know.

so pudge what do you think of the manga.
To be honest, I found it to be a little too over the top, given the environment provided. Without spoiling anything, there’s some absolutely ridiculous stuff that happens, which isn’t bad in and of itself, but it should have been given a better setting to do it. It’s certainly entertaining, and I encourage you to try it out, but I could never get super invested, despite it being by one of my favourite authors(NisiOisin, in case you were wondering).
