I’ve already said it quite a few times but I am huge fan of Hack/Slash. While I’m not happy the series ended, it was at least left open enough for a follow-up or sequel. And we’re going to be getting something along those lines this summer.
Dynamite Entertainment has announced that Tim Seeley, creator of Hack/Slash, will be writing a six issues crossover mini-series about Cassie Hack teaming up with Ashley J. Williams from Army of Darkness.
The book will be called Hack/Slash vs. Army of Darkness and will pick up where Hack/Slash left off, with Cassie trying to live a normal life with her girlfriend Georgia Peaches and Sandra, their daughter (kinda). But that doesn’t last long as a horde of Deadites attack. So Cassie must team up with Ash to find stolen pages of the Necronomicon and save the world from the Deadites.
This crossover has (unsurprisingly) been very much requested from Seeley, who had this to say about the book…
Besides being one of the inspirations for Hack/Slash, Army of Darkness has long been one of my all-time favorite films. Readers have been asking for Cassie and Ashley J. Williams to meet for as long as I’ve been making Hack/Slash, and we’re finally going to give them what they want. There will be blood, boobs, baseball bats, and boomsticks.
I am so fucking excited for this series. The Evil Dead series is my favorite movie series, and seeing Ash kicking ass with Cassie is going to be so awesome. And maybe Vlad will make a comeback.
Hack/Slash vs. Army of Darkness comes out digitally and in stores this July.
