If you’ve been reading Justice League Dark, then you know they just saved two worlds and told A.R.G.U.S. (Homeland Security dealing with superpeople) to fuck off before jumping into their magic house and flying off. With them saving multiple worlds, I guess Zatanna thinks she’s too good for JL Dark now as she’s jumping ship – er, house, to join the main team.
Geoff Johns, chief creative officer at DC and writer of Justice League, announced on Twitter that Zatanna will be appearing in the July issue of Justice League. The July issue will also mark the “worldwide debut” of Zatanna’s new costume, which you can see above. It takes a lot of elements from her older costumes but keeps the fish-nets from her stage magician look.
Personally, I’m not that big a fan of it. It makes her look like Phantom Girl. I’m also not that into her current look in Justice League Dark. I like the stage magician look, with the top hat and everything. It’s how I was introduced to the character.
Despite that first paragraph, it’s not actually known if Zatanna is leaving Dark to join the main League. Johns just tweeted that she’ll be appearing in the book and we’ll have more details soon. I really hope she doesn’t leave Dark. She fits much better with that team than she does with the League.
Justice League issue 22 is set for release on July 3rd, 2013.
