Will Arnett Joins Ninja Turtles

Goddamnit, Michael Bay.

THR is reporting that Arrested Development star Will Arnett has signed on for the Paramount/Platinum Dunes reboot of the TMNT franchise. Who he will be playing, however, we don’t know yet. The studios are keeping Arnett’s role secret for the time being. Probably because they figure one more shit casting choice will lead to TMNT fans burning their offices down.

As of now the main roles left to be cast are: Master Splinter, the mutant rat sensei and father of the Turtles; The Shredder, arch enemy of the Turtles; and Casey Jones, hockey mask wearing vigilante and friend of the Turtles. THR is saying that Arnett won’t be playing Jones, so unless he’s playing someone like Baxter Stockman or something, Arnett could be the Shredder or Splinter.

If he does end up playing a character like Stockman or someone else, there’s still a chance he won’t be as nostalgia-rapingly bad as everyone else. But this is a Michael Bay produced venture, so my hope is probably horribly misplaced.

Ninja Turtles is set for release on June 6th, 2014.
