You know what’s gotten me the most excited about Captain America: The Winter Soldier? The fact that I haven’t to report on casting updates every other day. But now I got a double casting update. Thanks for shitting all over that one reprieve from constantly writing about casts, Marvel.
First up, Robert Redford (yes, that one) is in talks to join the sequel to 2011 film as an unspecified character. So far, we only know that he will be playing a “senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D.” That is probably the only way I could see a guy like Robert Redford fitting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what with all the muscular people in tight shiny clothes hitting people with very hard things.
Speaking of those people, it’s also been announced that MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre, or GSP, has signed on as Batroc the Leaper. Batroc is a French, Olympic-level gymnast with a ridiculous mustache who works as a mercenary within the Marvel universe. He has no powers, but is apparently good at jumping. So there’s that.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release on April 4th, 2014.
