Rebellion has announced that they are making a sequel to last year’s Sniper Elite V2 with the less pun-tastic name of Sniper Elite III. In case you can’t tell from the title card above, the game will be probably take place in Africa.
Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, said the following about the game…
Sniper Elite V2 was just the beginning of what we want to do with the franchise; there are things we didn’t have time to do before that we can really look at featuring this time. We want to focus on making this latest incarnation of Sniper Elite more of a sandbox game and also build on the awesome X-Ray Kill Cam and the atmospheric World War II setting. We’re looking forward to seeing what Sniper Elite fans and gamers in general make of the latest chapter in the story.
I’m actually kind of excited about this. While I haven’t played the full game, I played the demo for V2 and it left a real good impression on me. It’ll be cool seeing how Rebellion builds on the kill cam and how the game works in a more sandbox environment.
Sniper Elite 3 is set to release in 2014 for current and next-gen consoles, as well as PC.
