In November Sherlock fans got some kinda shit news about Series 3, namely that we could be waiting until 2014 for it. But now things are looking up. Shooting for the third series starts this Monday, March 18th, and we will be getting a fourth series.
Series star Benedict Cumberbatch spoke with RadioTimes this week at the South Bank Show Awards. The actor said…
We’ve agreed to two more [series] but I could get into trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is we’re doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three. I just don’t know what there is beyond that.
He went on to say that he would like to see the series progress beyond four series, but that it would depend on the availability of himself, co-star Martin Freeman, and series co-creator Steven Moffat. Since both Cumberbatch and Freeman are making some names for themselves in Hollywood and Moffat is the show-runner on Doctor Who, we could be waiting for a while for Series 5.
