Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has got a pretty cool cast attached. On top of the returning Andy Serkis as Caesar, leader of the apes, Jason Clarke from Zero Dark Thirty and Kodi Smit-McPhee have also signed on as the film’s leads. We even have a leader for one of the few remaining human colonies in the form of Zorg from The Fifth Element.
ComingSoon.net has learned that Gary Oldman has signed on to star in the sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He will be playing the leader of a human colony named Dreyfus. The colony is one of the few pockets of humans left. In the 15 years since Rise, the virus has made apes more intelligent and has been killing more people. The apes now run the world and human beings are an endangered species.
Part of the film will be focusing on Caesar as he builds his empire and tries to keep everything from collapsing into itself. The other part of the film will follow a group of scientists from San Francisco as they lead a resistance movement to fight off those damn, dirty apes with the power of SCIENCE!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set for release on May 23rd, 2014.
