There have been a few occurrences recently, where we report a rumor from Latino Review, and find it to be true later on. We have mostly taken this as a sign that if Latino Review says it, it is likely true. However it seems that they may have been quite mistaken when they gave their rundown of Marvel’s Phase 2 plans. Primarily, the idea that The Avengers 2 would have a Planet Hulk storyline.
The suggestion was that in Marvel’s Phase 2 the Planet Hulk story would arise, then The Avengers 2 would either be a continuation of that story, or a World War Hulk story. Most people were excited about this idea (myself not included, Tony Stark needs to stay drunk and not do stupid things like fire The Hulk into space). However, in a recent review with IGN, Joss Whedon said “that’s nonsense”.
With a comment like that coming straight from the writer/director of the primary focus film, who is also advising on all other projects involved, it’s fairly safe to say that this isn’t happening. Now begins the challenge of trying to figure out what they will be doing. Which with both Marvel and Joss Whedon can be a hard task (remember when he re-wrote The Avengers because someone got a script?). For now we shall wait for any new news of Marvel’s Phase 2 and continue to report Latino Review’s scoops as rumor.
