A word that I’ve seen used with the PS4 a few times is “won’t.” Like how it won’t player PS3 games, and how it won’t block used games. A mixed bag with that word. We can now add one more thing to the negative “won’t,” as your PSN games won’t transfer over.
Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony Worldwide Studios, confirmed that titles on the current generation of the PSN will not be compatible with the PS4. This is due to the PS4’s x86-based architecture. Yoshida did say that they will be bringing as many titles over as they can, though. As long as they don’t use up the machines power running the emulation.
Yoshida also said that Sony is aiming to use server-side and cloud-based services to offer a wider selection of their previous-gen library, but that is a “longer term” goal.
The PS4 is set for release this holiday season.
