For almost a year people have clamoring for Blizzard’s Diablo III to come out on consoles. Even after the games release Blizzard said they were messing around with the game on consoles and actually had a version up and running. Now, after all this time, they have finally announced an actual console version.
During Sony’s PS4 announcement event, Chris Metzen, vice president of story and franchise development at Blizzard, announced during the event that Blizzard and Sony have joined their evil forces and are releasing the game not only on the newly announced PS4, but on the PS3, as well. There was also some mention of world domination (I knew it!).
Metzen went on to say that the team at Blizzard has apparently found a way to perfectly transfer the controls from mouse and keyboard over to console controllers that doesn’t involve mashing a button to death. There will also be a new four player co-op mode that has been working well in internal tests.
Honestly, I don’t care. I don’t play Diablo, so I can’t really get excited about this. Putting myself in the position of Diablo fans, I can’t imagine them being too excited either, because I was led to believe that the sound of clicking your mouse was an integral part of the experience.
No release date was announced for the console port.
