Over the summer, the long in development World of Warcraft movie had two movements: First, director Sam Raimi left the project to focus on Oz. Second, Charles Leavitt, the writer of Blood Diamond, had been brought on to write a new script for the film. Now another big move has been made for the film, as it now has a new director.
Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie and director of Moon and Source Code, has been signed on to direct Legendary’s live-action adaptation of the MMO. The studio is looking to start production this fall and is shooting for a 2015 release.
At this point we don’t know anything about the plot of the film. Legendary is keeping Leavitt’s script under tight wraps. We also don’t know any casting details. But The Tracking Board is reporting that Warner Bros. is eyeing Johnny Depp to star in the movie. We don’t know if this is actually true, but I thought I should mention it.
