Yes, you read right. Sengoku Basara, the Dynasty Warriors-ish Warring States Era game has a stage production in the works, and it’s cast has been chosen. The game, and subsequent anime, tells a… somewhat exaggerated version of the Sengoku, or Warring States, Era in Japanese history and features the well known Japanese heroes of the era fighting each other and wiping armies off the map while doing so. It’s history, taken to a ludicrous extreme and I am certainly curious as to how the fuck they are going to pull this off live onstage. The cast list is as follows:
- Kenji Matsuda as Matsunaga Hisahide
- Yuuki Kubota as Date Masamune
- Kei Hosogai as Sanada Yukimura
- Yuusuke Hirose as Tokugawa Ieyasu
- Seijirou Nakamura as Ishida Mitsunari
- Tomokazu Yoshida as Katakura Kojūrō
- Youjirou Murata as Sarutobi Sasuke
- Yukie Kawamura as Tsuruhime
- Minase Yashiro as Saika Magoichi
- Kazuto Nakamura as Takeda Shingen
- AKIRA as Uesugi Kenshin
- Yasuhiko Imai as Mogami Yoshiaki
- Hikaru Takahashi as Fūma Kotarō
- Takuya Tsukamoto as Imagawa Yoshimoto
- Kousei Sakurada as Azai Nagamasa
- Masashi Taniguchi as Tenkai
- Akira Kubodera as Oda Nobunaga
- Nami Tamaki as Oichi
With a run of nearly 30 shows planned across Japan from late April to late May, it will be interesting to see how this play is received and/or how they match up to the original show/game.
