In September, I had the unique pleasure of reporting that A&E would be making a series that prequels Psycho, called Bates Motel. A recent interview with Carlton Cuse (he wrote for Lost, so really, we shouldn’t believe anything he says (the writers said for YEARS that wouldn’t be the ending (I never even WATCHED the show and I knew it would be))) has revealed this not to be true.
Cuse said in the interview that he wants to “take these characters and setup as inspiration”. The show is meant to tell a different, mystery based story whilst also developing Norman into the character he becomes in the film. Still sound like it might be a prequel? Fear not! For the brilliant writers have decided to set this in present day. What reasons do they have for this? The first is for more creative freedom, by not having to make the show fit the film. The second reason is that creating a show set in the 1960s is hard (I really fucking wish I was joking).
The more I hear about this project the more I think it sounds like a remake of Psycho. Do you know what happens when you remake Psycho? Fucking Vince Vaughn! Who likes Vince Vaughn? Nobody (Maybe Ben Stiller)! Why does nobody like him? Because he was in a fucking remake of Psycho! I said this the last time I reported on Bates Motel; Psycho should be left the fuck alone. But on the bright side, at least we’ve been promised there won’t be any fucking smoke monsters (sarcastic confetti).

Source of semi-sensical ranting: I’m going to go with a 13 year love affair with horror films and slight lack of sleep.
I found a trailer! It’s dubsteppy, which is EXACTLY what Psycho was missing!
