A lot of people are thinking that Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, is actually going to be the new universe’s version of Wrath of Khan. I’ve never even watched more 20 minutes of Star Trek (in total, including all the TV series and the movies) and even I get the feeling that Benedict Cumberbatch is standing in for Ricardo Montalban. Now some more evidence has come to light that Into Darkness may actually be new Wrath of Khan.
If you saw the trailer for the movie that was released last week, you would’ve seen Alice Eve, an actress who’s relatively new to the mainstream who has starred in such films as She’s Out of My League and ATM… Clearly one of the great actresses of our time. It’s been revealed recently that she will playing Dr. Carol Marcus in the new film. Marcus, from what I understand, was the lead scientist on “Project Genesis” and was the mother of Kirk’s son, David.
Marcus, David, and Genesis all played huge roles in Wrath of Khan, so you can see why everyone is saying Into Darkness is WoK. Plus, we this scene at the end of the Japanese trailer:
