Assassin’s Creed III DLC Resets your Save

An Assassin’s Creed III player had a rough day last week. He downloaded the new piece of DLC, which I’m pretty sure is the Hidden Secrets pack, and he loaded his save to play it. When his save loaded, he noticed that he had no money, was starting from the Animus training, the main mission progress was at 0%, and his overall completion rating went from 85% to 45%.

Yes, it seems that when he downloaded the add-on, it fucked with his save. This unfortunate player wasn’t the only one to be affected. Multiple people have reported the same problem on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

But, Ubisoft heard about this and someone from Ubisoft posted the following in the thread:

“Just a quick heads up, we’re able to reproduce this issue at the studio and are working on a fix/workaround.

From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players. That said, we’re taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously.

AVOIDING THIS BUG: Do not load your saved AC3 game while the DLC is downloading in the background. This appears to be the key trigger for this bug. You can do anything else you want to do, just don’t load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading.”

So that’s nice.
