One of the Flash’s main enemies, The Reverse-Flash, was the biggest thing during the Flashpoint story arc. Since that ended and the New 52 started, though, we haven’t seen hide nor pallet swapped costume of his time-travelling ass. Now he’s coming back.
The Flash co-writers Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato are bringing back the Reverse-Flash, but not in the way you might expect. In an interview with CBR, Manapul and Buccellato said that the new Reverse-Flash won’t be any version of him we’ve seen before. It will be a new person and have a new suit. It won’t just be the Flash’s suit with the color scheme reversed. Manapul and Buccellato wanted the new guy to have a bit of mystery about who he is and where he comes from.
The new Reverse-Flash will be making his debut appearance in issue 17 of The Flash, which comes out in February and ends the Gorilla Warfare story. But Reverse-Flash won’t be getting his own full arc until issue 20, because Manapul will be taking a two month break from the series. Manapul has been serving as co-writer on the book, as well as doing the cover and interior art. He deserves a break.
