Marvel doesn’t exactly have a bevy of all-female teams. Sure they have some, but none that I can recall from recent issues. At least in the series I read. Marvel seems to be aware of this fact, though, as they have recently announced a new all-female team and their own series.
Writer Cullen Bunn and artist Will Sliney are working on a new book for Marvel NOW! called The Fearless Defenders. The co-leads of the series are Valkyrie and Misty Knight, a very odd duo for a team-up, as Valkyrie starts to make a new team of Valkyrior made up of women from Midgard (that’s Earth) instead of Asgard. While the first issue will have the two co-leads, Bunn said that he will be building the team over time. He said that he “didn’t want to go into issue #1 and say, ‘here is the team.’ [His] goal is to take [his] time in building this team. [He wants] to build it slowly — even after the first arc, the team will not be formed completely.”
Bunn also revealed that the third character to join the team will be Dani Moonstar, a member of the New Mutants who lost her powers on M-Day and has had or still has Valkyrie-like powers. I don’t know, I don’t read New Mutants. On top of all of that, Bunn has also created a new villain for the team. He didn’t say who it was, though.

The Fearless Defenders comes out February 2013.
