Justin Lin, who’s directed the last three Fast and Furious movies and is currently working on the sixth, is changing things up. He is going to be directing a movie that, presumably, has no cars and no Vin Diesel.
The seemingly car obsessed director has signed on to direct the sci-fi thriller Hibernation as well as produce it through his Perfect Storm banner. The film was written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Will Frank, two freshman writers whose previous credits include a “Thanks” on some video and a thing called Zombies vs. Mardi Gras, respectively.
At this point we don’t really know anything about the film’s plot, aside from it being a “dynamic futuristic thriller.” A producer on the film, whose last name is Poon and thus I will only refer to him as such, said that the story was “fresh, inventive and one we found immensely compelling.” Take from that what you will.
